Hypnosis is not sleep, it is a heightened state of awareness. Whilst in hypnosis, most people have awareness of what is happening around them, but your mind is likely to drift and wander with my voice sometimes fading into the background.
Mindfulness helps clients to relax and to maintain a moment-by-moment awareness of their thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations and surrounding environment. It’s about the here and now. Mindfulness also involves acceptance, helping us to pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them – without believing, for instance, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment.
Hypno Analysis and regression
Under hypnosis the client is taken back to an initial sensitising event. This, more often than not, occurred during the early years, where cognitive understanding is low but emotional response was high. By revisiting these memories and emotions in a controlled environment the response patterns the client may have developed at the time of the experience can be re evaluated and put into perspective.
Psychotherapy is commonly used for psychological problems that have had a number of years to accumulate, rather than a one off problem, The psychotherapeutic approach tends to look in the deeper, more fundamental and long-standing issues.
Brain Working Recursive Therapy is an immensely effective technique. It is a new model of psychotherapy that is determinedly solution-focussed. Promoting rapid solution of psychological distress. Being a solution-focussed therapy there is no need to understand the underlying cause of the distress symptoms which can appeal to those who do not want to open their soul to their therapist.
Most problems are resolved within 4-5 sessions and even more complex issues are usually resolved within 8-10 sessions.
BWRT works by looking at the relationship between the trigger thought and the response to this and intercepting the two to create a new neural pathway so the trigger can no longer create the destructive behaviour that hold us back.
CBT and talking therapy
CBT looks at the mind-body connection, and how our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are all interlinked, and so influence each other. When people have negative thoughts and feelings these can trap them in a vicious cycle.
CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way. You’re shown ways to change negative thought patterns to get out of that vicious cycle and improve the way you feel. CBT looks at the here and now, focusing on the present rather than on issues from your past. It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Hypnotherapy uses CBT techniques during sessions of hypnosis, which can help to increase the success of the techniques used.
It can be a great release to talk and share your worries, fears and anxieties – to be able to talk openly about your feelings and emotions with somebody who can really listen and understand.
