your throat like the Sahara desert. Then hypnosis may help…. Hypnosis can best be described as the single focus of the conscious mind. In effect it is a bit like putting your car in neutral the car still moves but it is temporarily disconnected from driving the engine of the car. Hypnosis is a very natural state of mind in both humans and animals. You only have to watch a cat stalking a mouse to see the trance like state that the cat is absorbed into where nothing else exists in that moment other than the mouse. All movement by the cat is taken over by unconscious competence. Using the power of hypnosis in therapy (hypnotherapy) we can suggest new learning and behaviours that are beneficial to the client, which may not be so readily accepted outside of this trance like state. The state of hypnosis allows the client to temporarily switch off the cognitive conscious faculty allowing these new ideas to be absorbed into the psyche of the subconscious mind where beliefs are held.
